Having an attitude of expectancy

“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh," said Piglet at last, "what's the first thing you say to yourself?""What's for breakfast?" said Pooh. "What do you say, Piglet?""I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" said Piglet.Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.” A.A. Milne - Winnie the Pooh

I want to have Piglet's attitude.

Though Mack, the yellow "puppy," has a pretty sunny disposition, so his attitude works too.

Both walk around looking for excitement, expecting to find it any minute and overjoyed when something actually happens.   If you're familiar with A.A. Milne's characters or the temperament of a lab, you know that they are happy and appreciative of the little things.  They love meeting new people, finding a balloon, looking for tails, or heffalumps and woozles.

Piglets and labs are great company, easy to be around with contagious, positive energy.   I want to be more like those critters.  Maybe that's not the highest aspirational goal, but given my too easily frustrated self, I could do much worse...

What excites you about today?  Are you keeping your head down as you commute to work, sit in carpool, or wait in the Starbucks line?  Do you look up from your phone long enough to see the interactions of the people around you? Are you aware of the drama, the humor, or the excitement around you? Do you zone out or tune into your environment?

If you're like me, you probably forget that REAL life is engaging, entertaining, and, if you ask Piglet, exciting.

Look up. Expect to see something breathtaking. You don't want to miss it.
