The List: Star Provisions
Star Provisions is about as perfect a place to grab lunch as you'll find in Atlanta. Granted, the experience is not much different from hitting a local deli; you stand in line and share menus before placing your order at the bar. The experience isn't glamorous, but somehow I always feel that eating there is a treat.
Perhaps it's because I enjoy browsing the store before my lunch date arrives (I'm an early bird). Or maybe it's because I almost always eat outside in this lovely environment. However, what makes me most happy is the consistently excellent food. I've written before about the shrimp po'boy from the 2011 list and the Thai beef salad. I've gushed about the chickpeas and the roasted beets, so I couldn't wait to try this year's LIST entrant, the baguette with prosciutto.
This sandwich is definitely ready for its closeup! Is there a better lunch than fresh baked bread, creamy butter, shaved Parmesan and prosciutto?
I submit, there is not.
Simple, delicious and completely list worthy.
And, while you're there, if you're not into roasted beets (still my favorite side), then give the cucumber and dill salad a try. It's made with just the right dash of yogurt and is a perfect side for this excellent sandwich.!Happy dining!!
