What do you need to stop doing?

"Nothing is less productive than to make more efficient what should not be done at all."Peter Drucker

A couple of months ago, I noticed a couple of moths in a cabinet.  I quickly smashed them and continued on with whatever I was doing. I didn't give the "attack" much thought.

However, a few days later I found a few more moths and spent several minutes using the fly swatter and making sure they were exterminated.  I was annoyed, but again I didn't give the incident much thought.

Then I went away for a couple of days and came home to a cabinet FULL of moths.

UGH!

What do you do when that happens?

Do you...

1) move the fly swatter, paper towels, and Windex into the cabinet to make the killing more efficient? (These are my weapons of choice.)

Or do you...

2) spend a couple of hours disassembling an entire cabinet and finding every last pocket of moth and worm until there is a total annihilation?

Of course, as tedious as it is, the only real option is #2.

I don't want to be an efficient moth killer. I don't want to have to kill moths at all.

However obvious it is in this scenario, in other areas of my life, I'm not always so disciplined.

I strive to organize my emails more efficiently, when what I should do is unsubscribe to a bunch of lists and make more phone calls. I sort and store stuff around the house, when what I should do is purge things. I cram what I can into my calendar, but I should say "no" more often.

Can you relate?

From what I gather, I'm not alone.
