Notice the Little Things & Have a Ball!

“The answer must be, I think, that beauty and grace are performed whether or not we will or sense them. The least we can do is try to be there.”   Annie Dillard , Pilgrim at Tinker Creek

Wow, it's Friday already and summer has, yet again, slipped by at a surprisingly fast clip.

This week I took a vacation day on Wednesday and spent the time at the beach with my family.  There's nothing like slowing down and being near the ocean to realize how many little things I fail to notice.

If you're like me, sometimes in the daily push to complete tasks,  you miss things that bring beauty and grace to the world.  Much of what's amazing in life requires a more patient, contemplative posture in order to be noticed.

That's what I love about this short (1 minute-ish) film by the people at Everyone; they did some seriously creative "noticing."  Someone at Everyone picked up that Google images had a ton of pictures of balls.  So, why not assemble the pictures in rapid succession to make a whimsical, beautiful snapshot?

That's the story behind the video below. (via Colossal)

Fun, right?!

For me, the implicit challenge is to walk through the world paying attention (or as Annie Dillard says, "trying to be there") to beauty and grace wherever they perform.

I wish the same for you.
