“You can’t be that kid standing at the top of the waterslide, overthinking it.You have to go down the chute.” Tina Fey

There is time for analysis; time for thinking things through and creating a plan.

There is often a need for an alternative option, a plan B, an escape hatch.

Patience is a good thing. Waiting can be strategic. Delay can help.

But not always.

All of those actions can also be avoidance. They sound like caution, but they are often subtle forms of fear. The "sensible" can be code for a lack of courage.

You should know what your particular brand of procrastination/avoidance/fear looks like.

Do you stay put until everyone agrees with your decision? Are you having arguments in your head about why inaction is the best action? Is dread your primary emotion?

For any area of tension, ask yourself what, exactly, are you afraid of?

I find this question clarifying because when I know what I fear, I'm capable of bringing light into the situation; like looking under the bed for the monsters, fears weaken when they are faced head-on.

I don't know about you, but I definitely don't want to be the kid at the top of the waterslide overthinking life.
