Fried Pizza at Don Antonio by Starita
If you live in Atlanta and you're are eating average pizza, you simply aren't trying hard enough. There are SO many choices of great options, the bigger challenge is WHERE to eat.
If you're in Midtown, Antico Pizza wins. If you're closer to the Perimeter, you could always pop into Double Zero Napoletana. And if you just want a faithful reliable slice of pie, there's no shame in hitting up the pizza chain Mellow Mushroom.
However, if you're in Buckhead, you should absolutely have the fried pizza at Don Antonio by Starita. This restaurant hails from New York, and perhaps that's why they chose the hard-to-see location on Paces Ferry (near the St. Regis); they know people will hunt them down!
If you're a snob crust, you'll soon discover Don Antonio has one of the tastiest pizza crusts ever. This is due to their unique technique of briefly frying the dough (making it oh so puffy) then topping the pizza and finishing it in the wood-fired oven.
The resulting yumminess isn't fully conveyed in this picture, but it's UHmazing. While you're there, be sure to round out your carb intake with one of their delicious salads ( I like the Pontina).I've also tried their regular pizzas and while they are very good, I'm not ever going to wander too far from the fried options.
There's no point in straying from perfection!
