Fear of Launching

"We fail? But screw your courage to the sticking-place,And we’ll not fail."

How do you work through your fears?

Do you talk to yourself? Do you pace? Do you look to others for reassurance?

If you're a parent, how do you help your child work through their fears?  Do you cheer, cajole, or coerce?

Check out this video to see a nine-year-old muster up her courage to make her first ski jump.  Pay attention to her coach (dad?) patiently answering her questions. It's a mini-lesson on leading well.

The nerves before and the relief at the end is absolutely palpable.

Way to go kid!!!

Wasn't it worth working through the fear? Sometimes the fear of launch holds us back from joy and freedom on the other side.

I find this little girl's courage encouraging.

Where do you need to "screw your courage to the sticking place?"
