Breadwinner Cafe
If you live anywhere remotely near Sandy Springs and you haven't already discovered Breadwinner Cafe, you can thank me later. Imagine a smaller, kitchen-only version of Star Provisions, and you'll be on track to the deliciousness of Breadwinner Cafe. This breakfast/ lunch restaurant is one of those rare places that lives up to their humble billing of "Real Home Cooking," but only if your home has a fantastic cook. I am beside myself that the location isn't close to my office (life is tough that way). However, when I'm even remotely close, I swing by for their Caprese sandwich (Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella) or Fig & Brie with one of their fantastic salads.
I don't think you could go wrong with any dish that catches your eye, but these are a few of my favorites.
Daily Wraps. Breadwinner seems to rotate what they put in their wraps, but I love the fish (Tilapia) wrapped with bacon and onion.I have one friend who drives a crazy distance for the Pimento Cheese Sandwich. I haven't yet taken to this Southern fare, but I appreciate the nod to wheat bread! Also WAY off the hook is their Roast Beef and Arugula Sandwich. Nom. Nom.As much as I love the sandwiches, I positively obsess over Breadwinner salads. In fact, my Broccoli Salad creation started because I couldn't get to Breadwinner often enough. I love the simplicity of this dish. Fantastic!I am similarly driven to distraction by the Beet & Blue salad with candied walnuts.During my last visit, the women in front of me were waxing on and on about the Red Cabbage Slaw. I'll have to try it next time.I could continue the menu tour for pages, but when you show up, you'll be inspired by whatever inspires you in the moment. Breadwinner makes it easy to grab their food to-go, and their choices make a great alternative to fast food. Keep this in mind as you're cooking for the big Thursday meal.
Enjoy!
