At Home Lego Movie*

We own a few Lego sets. And by "few" I mean enough to fall, hide, and otherwise occupy every last crevice of our home.  No other toy, game, or iDevice comes close to dominating the amount of hours Legos do.

This is an excellent thing.

As a family, we went opening night to The Lego Movie (four thumbs up!) and not long after that, my son embarked on building his own Lego world, but this time the "movie" would be our favorite TV show*, Wipeout.

If you've never seen Wipeout (clip here), you're missing one of the best family viewing experiences out there. (Note - there is some crude, potty kinda humor if that sorta stuff bothers you.)  Granted, you have to like physical humor and witty repartee, but otherwise it's sure to please.

For the past couple of weeks Josh, our 9 year old, has poured though boxes and baskets looking for VERY specific pieces for the course, and the result is, in a mother's opinion, flat-out amazing.

For the quick tour, let's start with the hosts!  Here's the booth housing the "Johns."  Note that John Anderson still sports his glasses, but John Henson in overalls is a little less dapper than his typical self!.  Maybe it's a "Wizard vs Farmer" week at the set!In keeping with the show, Jill Wagner gets a stage all her own.Twenty-four contestants are ready for action! The first obstacle on the course is a wobbly platform, "Beware of the Bee," which will sting you if you don't jump to the big balls fast enough!Everyone knows you're almost ALWAYS going to fall off one of the first two balls, but if you can make it to #4, "Smallzy" and an extra $500 await. After the treachery of the balls, you have to make your way through the "Sucker punch." Ouch!To close out the qualifying round, you have to survive the shaking bar/teeter-totter before swimming to the finish. If you're one of the six best, you get to go onto the next round for more punishment uh fun! The first thing: survive the sweeper bar!If you make it across, you have to jump through many shaking platforms  (Shaking Hamburgers) and circle trap (Spinning Fries), together known as "The Fast Food Restaurant." I wish I could show you how this moves, but trust me, it's awesome! Most contestants Wipeout! After completing this section, you have to climb up a moving platform and slide down to land on the final platform. (Timing is critical!)Times are announced for each contestant as they go.  Sometimes they are "dead," aka "disqualified."

The top three contestants will move onto the final challenge, "The Wipeout Zone."  This part of the course is in the design phase.  Our "chief engineer" mumbles things about needing more Legos to make it happen. Ahem... No...
