18 Years and Counting: A Letter
"He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord" Proverbs 18:22
Dear Mom and Dad,
The verse above is one of my favorite verses in the Bible about marriage, because I feel that it represents your relationship perfectly. Whenever it was you two found each other, the Lord knew that you would be perfect together and you would live the rest of your lives loving each other. When I look at your relationship with each other, I not only see love and admiration, but I see friendship. You guys are best friends. You aren't afraid to tease each other. It's one of my favorite things about you.
Honestly, because of your relationship, I think we are a happier family. You both push Josh and me to places we didn't think to reach and encourage us to go out an adventure. When you say that Josh and I have a really strong faith or that we are really flexible, it's because of you. Because of you, we move faster and stronger. Because of you, we are more confident in ourselves and in the Lord's plans. Because of you, we are better people.
If Josh and I don't spend enough time just saying "thank you," I'm saying it now. Thank you for every dried tear and every purchase and every minute you had to spend in traffic to get home to us. Thank you for every lesson, for every prayer. Thank you for coming home every day exhausted and still hanging out with us. Thank you for being the example of marriage that everyone wants to live up to. (Also thanks to your genes for bringing us into this world in the first place.)
Happy 18 years.
I love you.
Sincerely,
Ellie
